We are an Architectural Firm located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in business since 1979. During this time, we have devoted ourselves to the practice of high-quality private and governmental architecture. Our work expresses aesthetic sensitivity and harmony with the environment. Because of this dedication to high standards and attention to detail, our office has been recognized with numerous local, state, and national awards and proclamations.
Our Firm has been the Architects for hundreds of diverse projects including the Weston Community Library/ Broward Community College Campus; the Miramar Community Library/ Broward College / Nova Southeastern University Campus; Miramar Fire Station #100; Marathon Fire Station #14; the Fort Lauderdale/ Hollywood International Airport Master Plan/Vision 2020; the Port Everglades Master Plan; the Broward County Courthouse District Master Plan; the City of Miramar Town Center and City Hall; the City of Miramar Cultural Arts Center; sixteen schools in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties; the Fort Lauderdale/ Hollywood International Airport Terminal #1; the City of Miramar Wastewater Recycling Plant; Broward County’s North Regional Waste Water Treatment Plant; five hundred townhomes for the Graham Companies; ten City and County Public Parks; five Performing Arts Facilities. Several healthcare additions and renovations for the North Broward Hospital District, Holy Cross Hospital, Parkway Regional Hospital, Palmetto Hospital, Hialeah Hospital, and private practitioners like the Eye Care and Surgery Center of Fort Lauderdale. We have also been the Architects for the A.B.C. Distribution Center, a fifty million cubic foot facility ( largest private volume building in the State of Florida), the historical renovations of several projects including the Tri-Rail Station in Hollywood, several hotels, and dozens of Private Residences, including the home of U.S. Senator and Mrs. Bob Graham. Cartaya and Associates Architects PA has acted as Continuing Services Architect for the Broward County Housing Authority, the City of North Miami Beach and Florida Atlantic University. We have also assisted the Department of Transportation on thirty-five Imminent Domain Cases, and the Sea-Port Monitoring Project.
Our Office has also donated their services to numerous non-profit and community organizations as a way of giving back to the community. Mario Cartaya, President of the Firm, has devoted his life complimenting his professional commitments with a dedication to community enriching activities. Mario has been recognized with City, County, Gubernatorial, Federal, and Senatorial Appointments. He was Vice Chair of the Broward County Cultural Arts Council. He was an Instructor and Department Chair of Architecture at Broward Community College for twelve years and a member and Chair of it’s Board of Trustees for an additional eight years. He also served on the Air Force and Naval Academies Nomination Boards for Senator Bob Graham for fifteen years and has been active on several Broward County, School Board and City of Fort Lauderdale Blue Ribbon Committees. Mario is furthermore a former Adjunct Professor at Florida Atlantic University’s School of Architecture.
